The Water Front
Ampersand was commissioned to work with artist Christina Reihill to create a vision, a one of a kind online space for the Dockland Community to share stories of loved ones lost at sea. thewater-front.com was supported by TOP Oil as a gift to the Dockland Community in memory of the SS. Adela, a Tedcastle vessel that was caught by a German U-boat attache in December 1917. We worked closely with Mr. Joe Mooney of the Adela- Hare Centenary Commemoration Committee to gather families to share their story.
To launch this historic website we created videos of relatives of the SS Adela sharing a unique insight to the time. This site will grow to include the history of the many ships and families affected by the German U-boat attacks in the early 1900s. But for now, you will find the history of the SS Adela here: thewater-front.com
